I taught myself to knit almost twenty years ago. I have rarely stopped since. Most nights, I am cozy on the couch with Penny Lane snoring next to me while I knit something. I make hats for everyone I know. When my children were small, I knit them little things to play with, stuffed toys, and managed to complete one sweater in time for a holiday photo before it was too small to be worn.
Each piece taught me something. Each stitch helped me to put away the cares of my day for a bit. During the last year, that has been a welcome respite from the realities of life. I have spent a lot of evening time knitting during the last twelve months and I have been amazed at how much I look forward to that quiet time at night on the couch with my knitting and Penny Lane's company.
A few years ago, I made a few of these adorable carrots to decorate our Easter table. This year, I set out to make a set of carrots with my own pattern. It has taken quite a bit of trial and error, but I finally have a knit carrot that I would be happy to invite to our farmhouse table. I hope that you'll feel the same and invite it to yours.
Each of these hand-knit pieces is made by hand from start to finish here at the farmhouse. Each one is stitched together with love and the hope that you will enjoy it for many years to come.
Carrots are priced individually, as a set of two, three, and four. We have discounted the grouping of multiple carrots so that you can invite more of them to your home this year. If you are interested in more than four, please contact us so that we can work together to make exactly what you are dreaming of.
These carrots are hand-knit with acrylic yarn in a deep orange with forest green colored leaves. I knit each one by hand, so they are all one of a kind in nature and therefore have very subtle differences in shape and size. They are stitched up by hand and filled with a hypoallergenic, washable filling made with recycled materials.
Each carrot measures between 7 and 8 inches from the bottom of the carrot to the tip of leaves when extended. At their widest point, each carrot measures between 1.5 and 2 inches across. Each one is unique due to the handmade nature of knitting, stitching, and filling them.
We think that these adorable carrots are perfect for decorating place settings at your spring table, or displayed with your favorite seasonal decor. In our opinion, they're also fabulous for nestling inside one of your 1840 Farm handmade baskets!
These carrots are not intended to be played with by young children or pets. While they are sturdy enough to be used decoratively for many years, they were not intended for rigorous play and might suffer from harsh treatment.
