I took this photo of a poppy covered in raindrops in one of our perennial garden beds on May 10, 2020. I love to capture photos of raindrops on flower petals and foliage. There’s something so delicate yet bold about the droplets of rainwater clinging to these pink petals. The sun had just come out, illuminating each raindrop so beautifully.

Since I was a young girl, I have loved to look at the world through a camera. I have had this camera since I was about 14 years old. I asked for it as a birthday present that year. So many decades later, I still love to spend time with a camera in hand.

There’s something about closing one eye to allow the other to focus on what can be seen through a camera’s viewfinder. To do so is to look at the world as a visitor, to scan the landscape for something interesting. Sometimes, you find something beautiful. Other times, a camera can be used to document the tragedy of a moment, the sad stillness of a second frozen in time.

Over the years, I have taken thousands of photos here at the farm. I’ve started to try and catalog more of them this year, to look back on the changes that this old farmhouse and the land it rests on have undergone in the nearly 20 years since we moved in. Those first photos feel like they were taken yesterday, yet also like they happened a lifetime ago. I’m so glad to have the photos to remind me of those moments.

When my children were quite small, I sold my photos at a local gallery. I loved the entire process of taking the photos, editing them, and producing prints that could be sold and enjoyed in someone’s home. I’m so eager to get back to that, to producing beautiful images that can be welcomed into your homes and enjoyed for years to come.

There’s joy in capturing beauty and sharing it with others. I love working with these photos and thinking about them being enjoyed in your homes, given as gifts, and adding beauty to your days.

I take each photo myself using a digital SLR or my phone when I don’t happen to have my camera in hand. I capture these photos in natural light. I process/edit these photos as minimally as possible. I might adjust the lightly slightly to compensate for natural light or remove very small specs of dirt from a flower petal if it distracts from the overall photo. I will not heavily edit a photo. The edits I apply enhance the natural subject while staying true to the original subject.

We’re printing these photos right here at the farmhouse. We’re using archival fine art inks and a large format professional art printer in our studio. We have chosen papers that are acid and lignin free. We have chosen a 60-pound matte finish paper for our prints. Matte papers have a longer lifespan and also resist fading more than glossy finish papers. If you prefer a glossy finish, please contact us as we do have glossy photo paper available and would be happy to create a glossy print for you.

The mats we use for our photos are acid free, high quality, beveled cut white core mats. They are 4 ply and measure about 1/16” thick. Our backing boards are white on both sides and are acid free. They are shipped with each print to help protect the print in shipment.

All prints will be shipped inside a clear plastic sleeve. This sleeve helps to protect the print from being scratched as it is removed from the rigid mailer once you receive it.

If you choose a matted print, you can also choose a signed limited edition print. Each photo will be limited to 140 signed copies. Once those 140 prints have been sold, I won’t offer signed copies of that photo ever again. Limited edition prints will arrive hand signed and numbered with a certificate of authenticity.

If you’ve seen me share a photo from the farm that you’d like to see us add to our collection of prints, send us a message. I’d love to add a new photo to our collection for you. We’ll be adding larger sizes of prints and mats as we go, so don’t hesitate to send us a message if you would prefer a print or mat in a larger size.
